Fishing remains difficult on the Manistee. If you are not in the “A” position with your “A” game it can make for a long day. The salmon that are in the system have yet to figure out their program. There are good numbers of fish in a few locations but until they spread out a bit the pressure on them is pretty high, hence they can be a bit spooky. Dark water is still the name of the game. Today Les and Mike joined me and they did bring their “A” game and were rewarded with a few nice fish. The fish seem to be shifting their feeding program, a few fish wanted larger flies while others prefered the smaller offerings such as caddis or egg patterns.
