It was a beautiful day to be on the river today. It felt great to be able to shed all the fleece that has been such a big part of our lives this spring. The downside is that it also brought out a good number of other people who needed to enjoy the sun as well. It also brought a very dramatic drop in water levels. The best plan was to find dark water away from the crowds. Dennis & Sharon Van Dam joined me today for this adventure. Dennis had been out with me on Monday and braved the brutal cold and wind, He picked the perfect day to get Sharon out on the water. We started the day off with a bang as Sharon got the chance to fight a fish right out of the gate on a demo cast. Unfortunately, we never brought it to hand. We had a few more hook ups through the morning and did manage to land a couple of Walleye. It was not until late in the day that Sharon put it all together and cast to, fought and landed her very first Steelhead. Congrats on being a good, patient learner and sticking with it. The flies of choice today were egg patterns and antron bugs in the AM and small stones and neon stones in the PM.
