March Kickoff

Great day on the Muskegon River with fellow guide and bud, Don Graham.  The steelhead and brown trout decided to play, even as a bald eagle soared overhead; a whitetail sunning itself looked on; and turkeys, turkeys, turkeys and more turkeys worked the shore-side oak leaves.  Sub-freezing temps yielded to the early March sun, perhaps warming the flow just enough to move the steelhead and trout to feed. Stone fly nymphs are increasingly in evidence bringing with them high hopes for spring and tight lines.  Here, Don prepares to release his buck to fight again.
