Nothing like river therapy!  Back on the water with Captain Don.  Perfect conditions:  mid 30’s, overcast, no wind, 1800 cfm flow, and 38 degree water temps.  For those of you who follow these posts or who fish the Muskegon yourselves, you know what a tremendous fall steelhead run we’ve enjoyed.  Here we are, three days before Christmas, and the river continues to boast excellent numbers of steelhead.  Action was steady all day, and though, the effects of the ever colder water are evident in the fighting qualities of the steelhead, they still give an excellent account of themselves.  When hooked on 8 lb. tippet, #12 flies, and 8 weight rods, closing the deal is no certainty.  Truly, we here in western Michigan are most blessed with some of the finest steelhead fishing America has to offer.

Thanks, Don, for a great day.

Pictured is a sampling of the steelhead brought to hand today.
