Today, I had the pleasure of hosting Jeff and Kyle for a day of Manistee River fly fishing for Chinook salmon. Jeff and Kyle are an absolute delight to guide, and we had our usual loads of laughs and thoughtful conversation. The fish were cooperative, and while we didn’t land most we hooked, we put three in the boat and just missed on a fourth. Ranging from 11 lbs. to 15 lbs, the fish are the best conditioned and proportioned we’ve seen in quite a while. Fresh, strong, and fast, the kings gave us all we wanted and more on our 10 and eight weight rods. Best flies today were chartruese caddis, nuke eggs, and Hex nymphs. Thanks, Jeff and Kyle, for a great day!
