Icy-Water Firsts

Icy-cold water continues challenge steelhead fisherman on the Mo’. New fish have taken the higher-water bus ticket towards their upstream destinations, however their willingness to cooperate remains a game of inches–they’re just not willing to move a long ways to feed in 34 degree water. Fishing the pools with grid-like strategies are paying off for those willing to be patient. For those unlwilling to put in your time, you’d better fill your gas tank.

Trout fishing though continiues to shine–find one, find a bunch. SJ worms, stones, and scud got bit with regularity today. Look for trout fishing to stay solid until the spring food source kicks in.

The crew from Orvis Carmel are with Dave and I for a few days, pictured is Larry with his first steel. Nice job Larry, welcome to the fraturnity!
