Tomorrows “kick off” of the spring steelhead season for me will have to wait for an undetermined amount of time with the extremely high water from the recent rains. I think that things could be back to a fish able level by weeks end. The good part about the high water will be the presence of very good numbers of fresh spring fish. Water temperatures are rising and near the 35-36 degree range. This will make a dramatic difference in the over-all behavior of these fish; far less work for success should be the name of the game! We do have some short term dates remaining; timing the falling water next week could be awesome!
