Nebraskan Byron told me at the outset of his two days of fly fishing with me that although he had fly fished for steelhead on most of the storied west coast rivers, he had long wanted to land a Michigan steelhead. Yesterday, with the buck he landed, his mission was accomplished, and today, his multiple hookups resulted in his bringing this fresh run hen to hand. We moved a lot today, covering a significant amount of river, and it paid off. Happy for Byron and his host Travis and for yours truly since I thoroughly enjoyed showing them one of Michigan’s great steelhead resources and witnessing their appreciation of the river and its steelhead.
