Trifecta? Almost…

Chinook salmon? Check!

Brown trout? Check!

Steelhead? Almost….

Quite a day with longtime customer and friend, Jeff. Recent rains cooled the river and boosted it, resulting in some great fly rodding today. Here Jeff poses female and male Chinook, along with a gorgeous brown trout.

As for the ever increasing number of steelhead in the river, Jeff came close but no cigar! One straight up, water clearing leap, immediately followed by a blistering run at the boat, and bye, bye chrome!  Literally, nothing Jeff could do to keep it hooked up. Fall steelhead are truly our apex fish on the Muskegon, and things are certainly getting underway for this wonderful fishery. All in all, a delightful day with Jeff and three great species of fish on the river we love.
