Jonathan and his son Matthew joined me today on the Muskegon River for their first fall steelhead and salmon fly fishing trip. Both avid fishermen, they quickly grasp the new technique and found success pretty quickly. As is often the case early fall steelhead can be quite a handful trying to land for any seasoned fisherman let alone a father & son on their first trip. Morning steelhead opportunities all fell short of the net. Thankfully the guys stayed faithful until the last run of the day when Jonathan was able to land this terrific fall steelhead–his first on a fly rod! Congratulations, thanks for the wonderful day!
