Vitamin D & swinging flies for winter steelhead

February days like today are pretty tough to complain about. Sunny skies, light wind, and afternoon temperatures in the mid 30’s made for a perfect afternoon to swing flies on the river. The weather forecast looks pretty bleak for the next 7-14 days as Ol’ man winter is forecasted to crank up the cold & snow, this is likely to be the only vitamin D for a while.

The Muskegon River is in great shape with normal winter flows around 2000cfs with afternoon water temperatures around 35 degrees. Though the steelhead didn’t cooperate today, we were more than satisfied to take in all the beauty the river offers on a sunny afternoon.
