Friend and long time customer Paul dusted off his fly casting stroke on an perfect Chamber of Commerce day on Michigan’s Muskegon River with me today. A few tips here and there, and he was into great fun tossing top water poppers for smallmouth bass, which happily cooperated throughout the day. The fact that Paul couldn’t trick any of the considerable number of especially large bass we witnessed to take, though disappointing, only whetted our appetites to get a another crack at them some time in the future. Throw in some great conversation and a grilled meal with our having been tucked away in the shade of overhanging trees prompted us to comment on how just perfect it all was. All in all, today was simply one of those most enjoyable days of fly fishing the river. Loved it and congratulations, Paul! Here, Paul poses a couple of his new found acquaintances.
