Yes, spring steelhead are coursing Michigan’s Muskegon River, and yes, today was a bluebird, Chamber of Commerce kind of day. Yet, as much as now retired RiverQuest guide Captain Don Graham and I enjoyed basking in the warmth of a spring day, replete with newly arrived birds announcing their territories and calling for mates, what made it so memorable was our reliving years of fishing memories together as we fought and landed steelhead. Retired, but no less proficient, Don here poses a hen from today. And, of course, he just had to remind me that no longer is he the most senior of RiverQuest guides!
