One of the best parts of a fly fishing guide’s time of the river is how some customers return year after year, resulting in ever deepening friendships. So it is with Pat and Terry who know of my family, and I of theirs, to the point that, when we fish together, we catch up on the latest news in one another’s lives and, of course, chase fish. So, despite some tough fishing conditions today—low, clear water; bright sunlight; and a paucity of steelhead—we had a great time as both Pat and Terry brought steelhead to hand and everyone updated news of their families. Toss in some animated public policy conversation, and one has the makings of yet another memorable day of fly fishing.
