Smallmouth Fishing Continues Excellent!

RiverQuest Captain Don Graham and his buddy Gary pre-fished the Muskegon River today in anticipation of Don’s guiding our Muskegon River Lodge guests tomorrow. As the photos attest, the smallmouth bass wanted to play and better yet, play with poppers on top—our favorite way to chase these great gamefish.

The river level has dropped over the last couple of days but with the jet sleds our guides run, we have no problem getting up and down the river. Certainly, the bass don’t seem to care since some the largest bass of the season are busting the poppers our customers throw.

We anticipate the bass fishery holding up into the first couple of weeks of September. Feel free to give Steve a call at (616) 293-0501 to learn all about it. There’s no obligation, of course, to book a float trip whatsoever if you call.  No experience with the fly rod? No problem; learning to cast with a fly rod while in one of our boats even as you give yourself a chance to hook a smallmouth bass is a great way to try out our sport of fly fishing.

We have a good six weeks of fly fishing for smallmouth bass on the Muskegon River left, so give us a call to talk it over.
