Pure Michigan on the Muskegon River

For many, fall is the favorite season and for good reason, as today’s fly fishing float trip with Bob Nykamp and his guest, Dr. Tory Seif, exemplified. Cloudy skies gave way to bright rays that bathed the river valley with reflections of gold and crimson. Tory, who had never fly fished, let alone battled a salmon, learned quickly and boated a hen, only to have Bob soon follow with the largest Chinook salmon landed in my boat this year: 19 lbs., very chunky, and beautifully conditioned.  All in all, the weather, the fishing, the conversations—made for a special day on the Muskegon River with two great guys.  Thanks Bob and Tory!
