What a beautiful spring day! I had the pleasure of fishing with Pete & Brett as part of the Rockford Construction group that joined Steve, Tom & me for the day. While the pre-opener crowd was pretty heavy today we were able to locate a nice area without another boat in sight that was holding a good number of fish. Pete the former Colorado resident transferred his trout fishing skills to our Michigan steelhead with ease and was first on the board with a nice fish. Brett, while a good fisherman, was new to fly fishing but picked up the technique very rapidly and was soon giving Pete a run for his money. The highlight of Brett’s day was landing his very first steelhead, which also was the largest fish he had ever caught. The most productive patterns today where, small stones, steelhead candy & green caddis. Thanks for the enjoyable day guys, I look forward to getting out with you again.
