I spent the last week in Vermont at the Orvis headquarters for their annual Guide Rendezvous, along with about 200 other endorsed guides, outfitters and lodges. It was nice to catch up with old friends and establish new ones. I look forward to this each year and the sharing of knowledge, best practices and of course fishing stories.
In talking with our guides, the trout bite has been consistent. We’ve been throwing steamers and when hatches are on, dry flies as well.
The smallmouth are in various stages of the spawn. Both streamers and crayfish pattern are working well.
As the weeks roll on, the smallmouth fishing will continue to get better with the warmers temperatures. Hope to see you on the river.
