Eye Opening – Gamefish on the Muskegon River

Avid walleye man, Marc, was a bit blown away by the speed and power of gamefish, particularly the steelhead he hooked and landed today. Now, we all love walleyes—on the table that is—but for Marc, battling steelhead was truly an eye-opener. Hosted by his friend Jeff, Marc not only followed directions to a “T,” but frankly amazed us at how well he caught on to the cast and line management with the fly rod. And then, when he was fast to a gamefish, his excitement meter shot off the charts.

One of the real compensations of guiding is watching people getting turned on to the fly fishing sport and the great gamefish we pursue. So it was for Marc, who, along with longtime customer and friend, Jeff, and me, enjoyed a day on Michigan’s Muskegon River to the max. Throw in watching a pair of bald eagles soar above us and sundry ducks, geese, and herons doing their thing, and one can perhaps sense how special a spring day on the Muskegon fly fishing for steelhead can be. Thanks much, guys!  I loved guiding you and hope we can do it again in the future.
