Great to be back on the river today after a snowy cold weather pattern the majority of last week. Joining me today was Nick, our fishing manager from the Grand Rapids Orvis Store. Conditions were nearly perfect today with low skies average river flow. The combination of ideal river conditions along with purposefully swung flies led to several good grabs today. Pictured is Nick with a pretty hen from this afternoon on his two-hander. Swinging flies for winter steelhead is a great way to shake the winter blues. No, its not easy, it’s exactly the way steelhead fly fishing is supposed to be–a challenge!
