Above & Below

Fluctuating water flows the past couple days has made for little tougher bite in my boat. Regardless, it has been great not dressing like an eskimo. We’ve missed some big rains that were slated to push our river to a challenging level. The Muskegon was just below 38 degrees this afternoon–the bite/grab always gets a little easier above that magic mark. Currently the river is flowing around 4200cfs with a nice bit of color. I expect some pretty great fly fishing in the coming days. Early week the majority of steelhead we posed for the camera showed plenty of brilliant winter hues, however today fresh spring fish were in the mix. Yes, spring has sprung both above & below the water!

Pictured is Ty with a dime bright hen this afternoon. If you are around Detroit this weekend, stop over to the MidWest Fly Fishing Expo and say hello!
