Best Buds

With bamboo rod maker Ron Barch and choral director and adjudicator par excellence, Dr. Bob Oster, in my boat, the pressure was on to find some steelhead.  The MO, though, is at the point in the steelhead run where the tried and true, “everyone knows” spots are waning, prompting the need to fish less well know locations.  So, on the hunt we went with Plan B.  Complicating things, however, was some pretty heavy fishing pressure even in those secondary, Plan B fall back spots.  “Team, Team,” though, came through, saving the day; props to Steve for his “You might want to try….,” which proved a real gem.

With Bob soon up 2-0 over an increasingly looking grim Ron, Bob began attributing his success to a more than stellar supply of testOSTERone.  So, it was “Game on” with Ron muttering to himself and whipping the river into a veritable froth— if only to put Bob in his place.  And, indeed, that he did with fish after fish from then on.  Of course, with this sort of high jinx running rampant, how could I not but have dug the day to the max.  In short, it was a flat-out blast with two of the most terrific guys you will ever meet!  A doff of the guide’s RiverQuest hat to you both, Ron and Bob; the day flew by and will surely be long remembered by yours truly.

Our first hint of “testOSTERone….”
Ron’s sweet revenge!
Some brown salt into Bob’s wounds!
Nature’s finery for fishy love!
