Wonderful day of fly fishing with dear friend and former educational colleagu, Tom TenBrink, Superintendent of the Jenison Public Schools. With his staff, Tom has built JPS into an outstanding school system. Much needed R&R for Tom was the order of the day, and the steelies surely did their part. Multiple hookups daylong, combined with our catching up on school and family news, made this a trip to remember and savor. Trout, too, continue to rev up for the trout season soon to be upon us. Larger sized and in greater numbers, the trout should be a total blast on four weights and drys. Can’t wait! Pictured is one of the trout we took today, along with steelies Tom and yours truly boated. Top flies were pale egg flies, stones, caddis pupa, and, again, steelhead buggers. Thanks, Tom, for the superb time! You’re an exemplary person so it was heatening to see the fish gods pay you much deserved homage.
