Thar’ She Flows

Wow! Had anyone told me as I drove to the river, which was flowing at 5940 cfs with thunderstorms and rain forecast that we would be bringing steelhead to hand, I might well have suggested a good psychiatrist!  But give it a go, we did.  Jon and his guests braved the flood, the rain, only to run for cover when the lightning and thunder became more and more menacing.  So, off to the Muskegon River Lodge we ran, soon warming ourselves over grilled steak dinners.  Satisfied and refreshed, we were off to river, this time under brighter skies.  Finally, we found steelhead and eager they were to play.  In short order, in the net they went.  Best fly was a chartreuse and steelhead orange nuke egg.  So, a great day it proved to be, despite the river blowing out at 6790 cfs!  Thanks, Lenny, Dave, and Jon for a most memorable day!
