Guide’s time to play today as Captain Don and I probed some water we hadn’t fished for awhile.  As Captain Steve’s post below notes, the wind was brutal, especially where Don and I fished, which was completely unprotected from a howling east wind.  The steelhead didn’t care, though, and came to both C & D rigs and fat line indicator setups.  Needless to say, mending line upstream into the teeth of a gale is no small trick; some of our mends sort of worked; a bunch of others were pretty ugly.  We got it done, though, and were heartened, too, to boat some skipper chrome.  Here’s hoping they’re the scouts for the next push of fish.

Pictured is Captain Don with the largest of the day.  Thanks, Don, for handling the helm duties.  As always, I enjoyed laying out line with you a ton.
