Today was day two for the Colburn group—six guys from Oklahoma (and Arkansas) who each year put together fly fishing and golf get-a-way. Despite the periodic rain showers of yesterday, the guys played 36 holes at Crystal Mountain with my guy, Arky Jim, taking medalist honors. Way to go, Jim! But as much as the guys like to play golf, they have the good sense to love fly fishing more! Steve, Dave, and I, then, had the pleasure, then. of hosting the guys for their second day on the water, and what a day it was. The cold weather and rain spurred new fish to come up the river and seemingly stirred the reluctant frog water inhabitants to join the love fest. The result: the largest number of salmon in the upper river to date. Pictured are Ken and Jim with a couple of the fish we took today along with an October 1 Manistee River morning.
