Headed towards the Holidays

Ol’ man winter is beginning to flex his muscles as our first winter weather of the season moves in. Joining me today on the river was Dr. David Menapace. While temperatures were seasonable for early December it felt pretty cold with our rather warm weather we have been having lately. Making conditions challenging was our first winter storm, tanking the barometer and likely causing the fish to have that dreaded hang over feeling. Drifting small stone flies, egg patterns, cross dressers, and hexes brought trout and two solid steelhead takes, the steelhead stayed off camera today.

As I type this report the ground has already turned white and its beginning to persuade me into the Christmas spirit. Water conditions are beginning to clear abit more than we have seen in some time, this combined with low forty degree water is surely moving the steelhead into full winter mode. With the fresh snow on the ground the landscape will surely enhance the total experience on the water. If you are interested hitting the water, we have short term availability. Pictured above is Dr. Menapace drifting through the the snow flakes this afternoon.
