Soggy Salmon

Steve Nienhuis and his long time buddy Rick Smith joined me for a soggy day on the Muskegon River. Though the weather above the water was dreary the salmon seemed like kids after the first snowfall of the season- very happy! While the salmon at times today jumped all over our presentations we also had periods of time where we just had to watch Mother Nature play her song. Small nuke eggs and antron stone flies produced most takes today.

With the water temperatures now in the upper 50’s and with a great flow steelhead numbers are increasing day-to-day. Steelhead are near the buffet lines and in their classic cuts. Egg patterns fished near the polished gravel are producing results as are streamers swung through historic lies. Picture is Rick with a few of his from today.
