Sort where necessay

Well, after a few days away for an out-of-town wedding it was great to be back on the water today. Joining me were Jim and Jon, both seasoned Muskegon River fly fisherman. Shorts and sandals by 11am. was a refreshing change of pace today as is finally felt as though spring is really here.  Water conditions  remain higher than normal and carry a stain that I would give anything to keep. Water temperatures have jumped to the low to mid-fifties and have both the steelhead and resident trout revved with angst. Steelhead fishing is quite good and should remain that way for another week or so. Obviously, some sorting of the old is necessary. A few scattered stone flies could be seen today from time-to-time, but nothing was looking up. I did see my first mayfly of the season today, but it was well out of reach for proper  identification.  Streamer fishing should be very good as the river banks are teaming with salmon fry. Pictured is Jim with his best from today.
