Today feature bluebird skies and warm temps with a stiff breeze; a perfect day to go sailing! Steelhead fishing was great dispite the breeze making casting difficult at times. Jim from Ohio and Kirk from Oklahoma tried steelheading for the first time today and found a great deal of success. Both guys cast, fought, and caught steelhead like veterans! By now I’m sure that you think that I only fish three fly patterns but green caddis continued to produce most fish. We did scale the size back today from 10’s to 12-14’s. Waders can breath a sigh of relief they stuck a cork in the damn and the water fell about 8 inches today. So much for “run of the river”? Good luck this weekend…

Tight lines,

Steve

Thought I would weigh in with a report from my clients as well today. I’m Steve’s dad, Tom Kuieck, and my clients were a father & son team. Tom Sr. and Tom Jr. did great with oone of our best days of boated steelhead for the year. Family trips are especially enjoyable for us guides, and the two “T’s” were no exception. We had a wonderful time making some special memories. Tom Sr. bested Tom Jr. 12 to 2 in the boat, much to Tom Sr.’s delight. Top flies were caddis, champagne egg, and the Antron hex. Tom Sr.’s male and Tom Jr.’s hen were representive of their catches for the day.
