New and Old Pro’s

A chilly day was in-store for us today on the Muskegon River. Joining me was first-timer Dr. Talal and semi-seasoned Dr. Nykamp. Water conditions are near perfect with only a slight stain and a moderate flow. Small stone flies, green caddis, pale eggs, and the occasional hex nymph seem to be my top performers day-to-day, however as the water skinny’s up I have been sizing down the flies to match. Dr. Talal stole the show today with a monster male out of a dark water pocket–not a bad start to his steelhead fly fishing career! Pictured above is Dr. Talal and Dr. Nykamp lower.
