When the stars align

Swing flies for steelhead hasn’t been easy the last day or two as the Muskegon River rose again from the recent rains. Thankfully the river fell slightly today and the overall mood of the steelhead was much improved.

Tim (pictured above) took his first Spey casting lesson earlier this week in preparation of joining his coworkers on his first steelhead trip. The stars aligned this afternoon and Tim was not only gifted with his very first steelhead, but a steelhead worthy of tales for years to come. Jay is pictured below with a very long steelhead that came shortly after Tim’s.

The Muskegon River does not need the 1-2” of rain forecasted tonight. Hopefully we can sneak through this weather event without casualties.
