Uncle & Nephew, Part II

Last week, Jeff hosted his nephew, Grant, in my boat, and today he introduced me to his other nephew, Jack.  Jack has gotten the fly fishing bug of late, and today was his first crack at steelhead on the fly. Despite his granting numerous premature releases of steelhead, Jack locked in and loved it all.

I respect Jeff a ton for the close relationships he has built with the guys—whether teaming to work on Jeff’s whitetail property, fly fishing Alaska this summer (the lucky ducks!), or fly fishing the Muskegon River with yours truly. Most of the fish the guys hooked today were seasoned, but Jeff poses a mighty mite—a fresh run skipper—that, pound for pound, fought as hard as any fish my customers have brought to hand this spring. Toss in a free pass from the weatherman, who thankfully decided to send the forecasted storms to Wisconsin instead of Newaygo, and you have the ingredients for a great day with two guys who love the out-of-doors and the sport our state has to offer.
