Super time reconnecting with Dave and Tom, two colleagues from my past career and dear, dear friends. Both guys exemplify excellence in the role of superintendent of schools with Dave having retired from the Jenison Public Schools and Tom serving as the current superintendent. Both wanted to chase Chinook salmon and, praise the fish gods, the kings arrived just in time—the recent rains and temperature drop having served as Love Potion Number Nine!
Here Tom and Dave pose a hen and buck, both of which finally, finally came to net. We haven’t see Chinook this large and well conditioned in a long time, and the lengthy time it takes to land them on fly rods certainly validates that fact. Toss in a chunky rainbow trout and other salmon along with tons of laughs and heartfelt commentary on the national scene, and you have the makings for a most memorable day. Loved every minute!
