Pure Michigan: RVRQST Edition

Can’t recall seeing a Pure Michigan ad featuring Michigan’s wonderful fly fishing, but, man, had the PM people been on the Muskegon today with Captain Don and me, they would surely have had to give it some thought! Absolutely gorgeous day: bright skies, low humidity, 70’s temps, and a light breeze with smallmouth bass smooching whatever Don cast to them. Not so much for yours truly who repeatedly piqued their interest, but for various and sundry causes gave them a break.

For those of you who haven’t gotten into fly fishing or who have taken perhaps a fly fishing trip or two, summer smallie fishing with streamers and poppers is a great way to learn how to fly cast, manage line, and boat some fish with a fly rod. The fish are forgiving, the weather unbeatable, and the solitude glorious. One canoe, one DNR sturgeon research boat, and one fishing boat in some seven hours on the water. In short, today on the MO is what Don and I see as Pure Michigan; perhaps you might, too.
