After a hefty steelhead he hooked managed a “premature release,” MSU junior Grant kept working the long rod, cast after cast, and minutes before we were about to pull lines for the day, he connected with the hen he poses here despite the fishing conditions. Hosting Grant was his uncle Jeff, a long time customer and friend, who also brought a steelhead to net. To observe that the high water flow and river temperatures that had dropped a couple of degrees over the last couple day made for some tough fishing conditions would be an understatement. Hats off to the guys, though; they pressed on and ended the day with smiles and high fives all ’round. Great job, guys; loved your “never say die” determination to prevail over some less than ideal fishing conditions.
