Persevere

This hen steelhead, fresh upriver from Lake Michigan, posing here with longtime friend and customer, Pat, brightened our fly fishing morning on Michigan’s Muskegon River today. Due to extraordinarily high river flows of late, now abated, fly fishing has been challenging since the bulk of the first push of steelhead ascended the river during the high flows and spawned. That said, steelhead are still coursing the river, and perhaps Pat’s bright hen may prove one of the forerunners of the second push of steelhead we often receive on the Muskegon during late April. Here’s hoping!
Oh, and not to shine the spotlight only on the pretty lady, Pat also poses this buck that took a shine to his Steelhead Bugger fly.
