Guides’ Rest

So, so good to get back on the Mighty Muskegon River with fellow RiverQuest guide and best fishing bud, Don Graham.  Both of us love winter fly fishing for steelhead so when we finally were able spend a few hours on the river we love, it was recreation, as in re-creation, to the max.  The steelhead  didn’t want to play, but the lake run brown Don boated, more than made up for the absence of chrome today.  The Muskegon has long had a lake run brown fishery in the fall and winter, but this year, RiverQuest customers have brought greater numbers of them to hand.  They’re gorgeous fish, well conditioned, and ready to take the fly.  All in all, a delightful therapy for Don and me—thanks to the bounty of Michigan’s Muskegon River.
