Refreshing

Steelhead fishing from October to early May is a long haul when you look back over the entire season. It certainly was nice and refreshing to make the switch to trout today. The river bumped up a little more than I had expected this morning after last nights storms.

Trout spey was the name of the game this morning, but once the river began to rise noticeably we made the switch to streamers. The streamer bite was noticeably better the further we traveled away from the recent caviar buffet. I’d expect things to even out soon.

We had a decent amount of drakes over a couple of the riffles this morning too—this warm weather may accelerate the bugs….stay tuned!

Pictured is Phil with a very nice brown trout from early afternoon.
