Novice No More!

Pretty cool how quickly golfer and hockey player, Travis, my nephew-in-law, and his dear friend, Tom, took to the fly rods today,  Despite high river flows and gusty winds, the guys hooked and landed both steelhead and some very chunky rainbow and brown trout. Tom’s a dry fly guy, who had never deep nymphed before, and for Travis, holding a fly rod, let alone casting with one, was a start-from-scratch experience. Egg patterns and nymphs were the favored fare today with fish taking the flies throughout the day.  Travis poses a hen, his first ever steelhead, and Tom  holds a skipper male. All in all, a delightful day of companionship and learning all ’round!
