Never in Fourteen Years…

Have any of my fly fishing customers NOT wanted to savor my succulent, grilled, streamside prepared steak, chicken, or pork loin luncheons, complete with red checkered tablecloth—choosing instead to “Let’s keep fishing!”

That is, until today! Roger and his brother-in-law John, up from Florida to fish with Roger and me for two days, chose rather to munch on near gourmet sandwiches prepared by Roger’s wife, Sue, so they could continue to pursue steelhead virtually nonstop all day on the Muskegon River without my interrupting their fishing with something as inconsequential as cooking!

Maybe they have a point, though, because their persistence paid off with steelhead hooked, lost, and brought to hand. Not only that, they must really be on to something, because my customers for tomorrow requested tossed salad, granola bars, crackers, and cheese—plus, of course, my trademark cookies—Steenstra St. Claus (windmill cookies) and NO  COOKING!

Pretty amazing, even shocking, but hey, the customer is always right so no cooking it is for three days straight!

Cooking aside, though, just a great two days with the guys. Here John poses a fresh run hen, eggs tight in the skein, fresh up river from Lake Michigan. (Now if I could just get him to open his eyes!)
