Can’t Be Singing the Blues…

Certainly the 2014 Chinook salmon run so far is less than what we had hoped for and less that what we have historically experienced, but as Steve’s recent posts note, with persistence, patience, and lots of searching, good fly fishing sport can be had.   Today, the water level bumped up 300 fps affording the fish and us some much needed flow. Couple that happy development with the crisp but sunny day Paul, his guest Steve, and I shared today, we can’t be singing the blues about the demanding fishing we’re encountering to date with this years run. Salmon are still bending rods and breaking off,  fishermen are cracking smiles and high fives, and the rites of fall spawning salmon continue ever before us. Here Steve holds his first fly rod Chinook.  All in all, simply a great day with two guys who have a great time fishing lots of cool places like the Muskegon River and bring guys like me into their world of outdoor adventures.  Thanks, guys!  Loved it!
