Absolute killer day on the Manistee with clients and good friends, husband and wife Jim and Mary!  We’ve said it before:  this is the best run of chinook (and coho) salmon we’ve had in years:  excellent numbers and mean weights around 18 lbs. Top fish today was Mary’s 21 lb. hen.   Enhancing the day was beautiful weather and improved current flow, all of which combined for excellent salmon fishing.  We hooked and landed fish all day with the best fly the chartreuse caddis.  Some fish are moving to gravel but only one of the numerous hens we put in the boat was dropping eggs.  Couple all of this with wonderful conversation, lots of laughs, and salmon in the net, and you have the makings of a most memorable day.

Mary and JIm are most accommodating, too; when I explained I had forgotten my table cloth and we’d that we would have to do without my red and white trademark, they plopped themselves right down next to my battery box and in effect said, “Serve it up!”

Thanks for a great day, Mary and Jim!  Happy, too, you enjoyed your stay at the Muskegon River Lodge.
