Matthew and his daughter Sofia joined me for the day to try their hand at some top-water smallmouth bass fishing. Having spent most of their time on the rivers of Northern California this would be their first big river experience here in the mid-West.
Fishing was a bit odd in the morning with most of the bass seemingly uninterested in almost anything. Perhaps this was due to the passing overnight storm? Thankfully it quickly turned around after lunch and a number of good bass were caught. Pictured is Matthew and his daughter enjoying each other’s company on the river.
