Family First

What better way to build on an already terrific relationship with your son-in-law than to take him fly fishing?  And so it was for Andy, an experienced fisherman, but new to fly fishing for steelhead.  Ron, his father-in-law and experienced fly fisher as well as bamboo rod maker, decided it was high time Andy grew his fly fishing skills. And learn Andy did.  Casting, line management, fish fighting—no problem. We delayed our start to give thunderstorms in the area time to move out, and were rewarded with a dry, delightful day of fly fishing.  Traffic on the river was extraordinarily light, perhaps due to the weather forecast, which afforded us a ton of options about where to cast our flies.  Although the steelhead run is waning, enough fish are present to afford good fishing, if one is fortunate enough to locate them.  Find them, though, we did—much to the happiness of us all.  Super day, guys; loved every minute of it!
