Captain Don Graham of RiverQuest Charters conducted a clinic on how to hook and land steelhead with indicators today on the Muskegon River. Guide and student was I as Don deftly hooked multiple steelhead (Aren’t they all supposed to be back in Lake Michigan by now?). For the record, yours truly pulled just about every rookie mistake out of the book to ensure that the steelhead I hooked—swam away!
We started the day nymphing with indicators for trout only to have just a couple wanting to play, but—and I will take credit for this—I wanted to check some of my favorite haunts, and lo, and behold, fresh steelhead! So, what a glorious day it proved to be: shorts, T-shirts, sandals, and fresh steelhead! Pretty amazing and certainly a day Don and I will look back upon with great big grins and memorable tales galore.
This one was bigger and brighter!
