Buckeyes on the MO

Rod's Hen #2 10-29-13 MS

Judging by Ohioan Rod’s expression, Michigan can elicit a Buckeye smile! And why not when, on the second day of persistent casting, the steelhead gods send some love.  So it was for Rod and Greg, and the rest of the Mad River Outfitters crew, who spent three nights in the Muskegon River Lodge and two days with Captains Steve, Dave, and me. Topping off the fly fishing with Chef Heather Allen’s gourmet presentations, cards in the Man Cave, and steaming soaks in the hot tub, the guys had the makings of a most memorable MIchigan fly fishing adventure.

All in all, we had a wonderful time with some really special guys—men who are successful in business, to be sure, but more important, successful in life.  Greg, for example, who organized the trip, gives major amounts of his time, talent, and money to build churches and schools, and to help indigenous peoples in Africa and Asia improve their standard of living through various self-sufficiency efforts.  Privileged we were to host these men; we all hope they return to visit us and the MO soon.

Free to live and perhaps thrill again.
