Better with Each Passing Day!

Finally, female Chinook salmon are getting serious about prepping their redds and getting on with their spawning chores. More salmon are in evidence than in just days ago, and, as a result, fly fishing success rates are rising.

Today, guide James Sunderman and I had the pleasure of guiding the Pogge group, long time customers of RiverQuest.  Fog enveloped the river valley as we pulled away from the launch and set the stage for a flat-out wonderful day on the river.

Some steelhead, too, are venturing their way up river like the steelhead James’ customer Taggert poses. Kings like the one my customer Ben holds kept all of us on point throughout the day and at days end left us reflecting about what a terrific time was had by all.

With the cooler temperatures now upon us, we anticipate the river will fish even better going into next week and beyond with fall run steelhead increasingly finding their way into our nets as well. Stay tuned!
