Best Buds Plus One

“Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire (for fishing) is so delightful!”

And so it was for son Ryan and his best bud since sixth grade, Ken—plus Ryan’s neighbor Brandon, who fished the long rod for the first time and met his first Chinook salmon, however briefly! Pretty much nonstop action all day since the salmon run is the best we’ve enjoyed in years, which should auger well for the steelhead push soon to come.

It was my pleasure to host the guys, all of whom work hard and long and treasure their time in the outdoors, whether chasing fish or waiting on whitetails.  With Ryan and Ken talking smack all day and Brandon marveling at the spectacle of the salmon run and their explosive power when hooked, it made for a terrific day—despite tree bending winds, rain, and drizzle. No matter, the guys toughed it out and were rewarded big time.

Here Ryan poses a buck as does Ken. Brandon had his chances, but the pic will need to wait for another day.
