Best fishing bud and fellow RiverQuest guide, Captain Don Graham, joined me for a shakedown cruise of my boat, which has endured sundry maladies this spring: a worn out anchor winch (Thanks, Tracey, of Tracy’s Custom River Boats for the new gear box and motor!) and some smoked electrical wires, ship-to-shore radio, and antenna (Thanks, Ryan, at Camp & Cruise for the new parts and your electrical expertise!). Not only did the boat pass with flying colors, gracious host that I am, I sandbagged it (not really) so Don could hook a couple steelhead and a fat brown trout, while I contented myself to watch and net for him! Toss in some snowflakes, wind, and high water, and there you have it: a great day of Michigan steelhead fishing!
